The Law Society Senior Economist/Analyst


The Law Society represents solicitors in England and Wales. From negotiating with and lobbying the profession's regulators, government and other decision makers, to offering training and advice, we're here to help, protect and promote solicitors.
The Research Unit contributes to that work by providing information and evidence to members and to support and inform policy development and decision making.
Reporting to the Head of Research you will use your analytical expertise and technical knowledge to furnish the Society with relevant, accurate and timely information about the solicitors profession, and developments in the wider legal services market. You will also assist with the provision of strategic and intellectual leadership in the positioning and representation of the Law Society across the range of its activities.
The successful candidate will be educated to postgraduate level (or equivalent) in a highly numerate discipline and possess a solid grounding in economics. Significant experience of carrying out quantitative and desk based research is required. Experience of writing industry and market reports which further understanding of patterns and trends is essential. Knowledge of the legal services market is desired, however an interest in developing a sound understanding is crucial along with an aptitude and fondness, for continual learning
