Position Description

Assists with documentation of structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design. Assists with development, maintenance and modification of payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. Assists with tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Assists with management of supplier development, test and production activities to optimize the design and achieve program goals. Works under close supervision.

Basic knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems (e.g., computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), computer aided three dimensional interactive (CATIA), Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics). Able to manipulate data sets, (e.g., compare CATIA to measurement data, create stereo lithography files).

Typical Education/Experience

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Other Job related information

Job position is with the Phantom Works Huntsville organization. The job will provide engineering support to new business pursuits and internal research and development programs as part of Phantom Works. Will also provide support to various on-going Boeing Programs (e.g., Space launch Systems and 787).
Some travel may be required. Travel requirements will be set by programs supported but should not exceed more than two weeks per quarter. Overtime is required on a periodic basis to support critical milestones. Overtime requirements are dependent upon program needs. *Please include GPA to be considered.
