Systems integration specialist , Afghanistan

Chemonics seeks a system integration specialist for the ongoing USAID-funded Regional Afghan Municipalities Program for Urban Populations (RAMP UP) - South, which works in six municipalities of southern Afghanistan to: (1) increase the capacity of Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA) municipal officials, (2) markedly improve the delivery of municipal services to citizens in target municipalities, and (3) increase municipal​ capacity to enable support, and sustain economic growth.  The system integration specialist will work closely with project staff to oversee the integration of the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) engine. IFMS is made up of six major modules that need to be fully integrated using MS SQL relational database on the backend and on the .Net platform. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:​​
  • Application
    • ​​Analyze six major IFMS modules and ensure that they are efficient and scalable, with no hard-coding, and use SP instead of in-line database calls
    • Ensure that the application is table-driven, service-oriented, and documented across the board using standard XML method of commenting​ 
  • Database
    • Perform database gap analysis among all six modules and provide recommendations to the technical team
    • Ensure that all tables and databases related to each module are fully related and normalized
    • Set up SSRS and SSIS modules per specification; ensure reports are generated in and efficient methodology and fast
    • Set up database replications from many federated locations to one, to allow the central database to be updated from all other federated nodes
    • Recommend convention that will make all database names, table names, and stored procedures uniform and compliant to standards
    • Recommend methods to fine-tune the database for efficiency and speed through indexing 
    • Recommend back-up and disaster recovery strategies
    • Recommend security measures put in place to ensure data integrity and security 
  • Network
    • Analyze and recommend gaps in the network architecture and network security
    • Recommend best practices in managing the network such as firewalls, wireless, Vsat, LAN, and switches
    • Set up network or enhance network where Internet is not available all the time 
  • ​Virtual Servers
    • Build the following Virtual Servers:
      • Database server
      • SharePoint Server
      • WebServer
      • Application Server
      • And other servers per hardware configuration and capabilities
    • ​Set up SharePoint Server in central location
    • Set up MS Team Foundation Server
Qualifications: 
  • Certification in MS SQL Server 2008, Implementation and Maintenance, required
  • Certification in Cisco Network Associate Security (CCNAS) plus ASA Specialist required
  • Certification in VmWare Professional (VCP) required
  • Good knowledge of Cisco ASA Firewall and Cisco VPN 
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • English fluency required
