About the Start Network

The Start Network is a consortium of 19 international NGOs. Through this network the agencies want to collaborate to accelerate crisis response. We are launching an ambitious new fund for NGOs, with significant donor support that will really make a difference to people affected by crises.

About the role

The role sits in a small central team of brokers who work with the 19 members. The central team is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the work of the consortium.
This role will take up significant responsibility in this team by managing our largest initiative, the multi-million Start Fund as well as other Start Network business. This role is truly unique and requires someone with great energy, initiative and organisation.
You will join a small team in a complex, demanding, fast-paced and novel environment. Reporting to the Director, this role will manage several central team members and develop excellent relationships with the different member agencies.
Your initial responsibilities include: process management and organisation, governance development and fundraising. Amongst others, this includes:
  • management of the Start Fund and all related processes of allocation, peer review and learning and evaluation
  • managing the business of the central team (especially planning and budgeting)
  • developing business cases with Start Fund donors
  • help the Start Network evolve to an independent legal entity
  • lead on fundraising strategies and proposal development with donors.

About you

Currently, you are likely in a role with significant and complex management responsibility, involving interaction and collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders. You would bring excellent people management, diplomacy and organisational skills to the job.
You have experience with financing models, preferably private sector financing mechanisms. You are motivated to improve humanitarian financing for civil society organisations, making a real difference to people affected by crises. You want a fast-paced, exciting and inspiring work environment where results instead of rules matter.
In return we offer a negotiable salary of £50,000- £55,000 + benefits, interaction with the leading NGOs and donors in the humanitarian sector, and the opportunity to join a team of innovators at the cutting edge of collaboration in the humanitarian sector.
