FHI 360 is recruiting for a Livelihoods and Food Security Intern in Washington D.C., to support the work of this portfolio of programs.

Responsibilities:
FHI 360’s Livelihoods and Food Security programs help people in developing countries protect and grow their household assets and prepare for unexpected circumstances. Our partnerships with local organizations and the private sector strengthen livelihoods and improve households’ abilities to get adequate and appropriate food. These activities include a range of social protection measures, such as saving and managing money and accessing capital. Our programs have a special focus on at-risk youth and people of all ages affected by HIV/AIDS, with low incomes, facing gender-based obstacles and constraints, living in rural and hard-to reach areas or living in conflict and post-conflict countries.
Under close supervision, an intern will be assigned to assist with research and conduct literature reviews, prepare annotated bibliographies, and assist with preparing project documents based on the literature reviews and project data.

- Apply research techniques and analytical methods to the conduct of literature reviews and creating annotated bibliographies.
- Assist primary writer to draft learning products on various topics including the effects of economic strengthening projects on food security and livelihoods
- Conduct special studies in conjunction with a project or proposal, analyze data, and make recommendations based upon studies.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
- Requires intern to be currently enrolled (or a recent graduate, within one year of graduation) in a MA or PhD degree program in related fields.
- Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English. Spanish or French skills would also be good.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently after receiving guidance.
