Overview:

Are you a software engineer who likes to solve challenging, complex problems? If so, we’re interested in talking with you, because we are in the process of developing a pipeline of talent for future openings.

Responsibilities:

Nobody carries more of the world's web traffic than Akamai. Our Applications Software Engineers are responsible for developing the software used both internally and by our clients. While there are many different groups and skill sets unique to each area within our engineering functions, there are core technology skills common to nearly all groups.

Qualifications:

We are looking to develop an active pipeline of talented, smart engineers with the following background for possible consideration for current and/or future openings on our Applications Software Engineering teams:

* Languages: Java, Ruby, or C++
* Scripting – Perl or Python preferred; similar languages can also be considered
* O/S: Deep understanding of Linux, Unix, or other Unix-like flavors. Some groups (not all) need people with Windows experience.
* Strong understanding of internet routing protocols, especially at the application layer (HTTP, DNS, etc.)
* Experience with any of the following in a real-world environment:

* LAMP stack

* Deployment of applications on Apache servers

* cluster computing/high-availability

* algorithms

* SQL programming/relational databases
