CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (COO), DUBLIN

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
GOAL is an international humanitarian agency established in 1977 and currently operational in 13 countries world-wide. GOAL has an annual budget of approximately €60m and is supported by a range of donors including the Irish Government, UK Government, USAID and the European Union.

GOAL is now recruiting for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to take control of the day-to-day operating activities. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).



Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Responsible for ensuring that all decisions taken by the Senior Management Team are implemented according to plan.
2. To keep the CEO updated on a daily basis of all issues deemed crucial to the organisation.
3. To lead a team of Senior Managers within the organisation.
4. To assist with devising strategic plans for all departments in conjunction with department managers.
5. To ensure the smooth running of the organisation on a daily basis.



Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years experience in a leadership role in a large complex organisation
• Candidates need to have the ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and incorporate them into the organisation plans
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Proven ability as an effective manager
• Will be able to demonstrate success as a decision make and innovator
• Proven team-working skills with the ability to see the “big picture”
• Previous experience of working with an NGO or in the voluntary sector
• A track record of strong operational delivery
• Proven experience of managing budgets
• Familiarity with good corporate governance practices
• Candidates should possess a degree in business management or equivalent
