Position: POST-DOCTORAL POSITION - CHILD AND ADOLESCENT DEVELOPMENT

Description:

The MRC/Wits Developmental Pathways for Health Research Unit (DPHRU) is located within the Department of Paediatrics at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. In collaboration with Human Sciences Research Council we have funding for a Post-Doctoral Fellow for one year to be based at DPHRU in Johannesburg. The Fellow will be part of a team collecting and analyzing social and psychological data on early childhood determinants of adolescent and adult health and wellbeing.

General Responsibilities:

  • Work with the senior research team
  • With other members of the research team, oversee quality data collection
  • Prepare data for analyses
  • Statistical analyses and modeling of data
  • Publishing scientific manuscripts in peer-reviewed publication/s.

Research Interests:

  • Child and adolescent health and wellbeing
  • Psychology, sociology or anthropology of children and adolescents.

Requirements:

  • A PhD in child health, child development, nutrition or epidemiology
  • Demonstrated competency in data preparation, data management and statistical analysis
  • Published or have accepted a number of research papers in recognized journals.

This is a 1-year Fellowship with a tax-free allowance in the region of R21 500 per month, depending on prior experience.
