Drying and Packaging Technician

SUMMARY OF POSITION
Monitor and optimise effective operation of the Drying and Packaging area of the plant. Ensure targets are met whilst utilising operational and maintenance resources in the safest and most efficient manner.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor and adjust drying and packaging plant parameters to achieve targeted safety, production, quality and cost objectives. .
• Follow SOP’s, regularly monitor equipment by visual and audio inspection. Complete log sheets and record observations.
• Ensure the safe and positive isolation of energy according to the permit system procedures and role requirements of a permit issuer and Authorised Isolator.
• Collect and log plant yellowcake samples and report inconsistencies on final product targeted levels.
• Ensure that the Final product shipping containers are packed and sealed to meet ASNO and EPA criteria for transport of Uranium.
• Follow radiological control measures established for the drying and packaging plant and have awareness of ASNO requirements with regards to drying and packaging plant security.
• Equipment and plant areas to be checked against area check-lists or standards on an ongoing basis.
• Report potential risks to Plant Supervisor/Control Room to minimise loss to company persons, property and natural environment.
• Undertake an appropriate level of risk assessment on operating environment and corresponding actions as part of an overall duty of care.
• Undertake house keeping activities to consistently maintain a clean work environment according to radiological requirements.
• Supporting team members by undertaking various tasks and activities that enable work groups to achieve objectives within deadlines.
• Undertake duties according to plant area competency level as described in site standard operating procedures.Other duties as directed by supervisor.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
• Non-metropolitan mine site located 400km NE of Adelaide and 75km NW of Broken Hill
• From commissioning/production majority of time will be Honeymoon site based commuting from Adelaide or Broken Hill (drive in, drive out or fly in, fly out roster).

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
• The position reports to Process Plant Supervisor

• The position has no staff reporting to it, however mentoring and guidance of Drying & Packaging Trainees will be required.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Educational/Vocational Qualifications
• Completed Secondary School
• Introduction to OHS&W
• Hazardous Substances training

• Class C drivers licence
• Senior First Aid certificate
• Forklift licence
• Cert II in Metalliferous Mining (Processing) would be an advantage but not essential

Experience
• Minimal experience in mining or processing environments and knowledge of process operations
• Knowledge of drying and filtration plants would be an advantage

Knowledge
• Understanding of OH&S principles
• Problem solving and decision making skills•

• Good communication skills
• Ability to work within a team environment and individually
• Enthusiastic and self motivated and proactive

• Ensure Drying and Packaging area remains operational through constant monitoring and reporting of problems/defects.
• Advise and provide recommendations for improvement opportunities in work processes and contribute to the implementation of endorsed improvement initiatives.
• Advise and provide guidance to developing employees and contractors enabling them to support the achievements of team objectives.
