ICT Assistant (Graphics Design) Grade: G6

Description of duties:
Under the supervision of ICT Assistant (Project Management and Communications Services), the incumbent will perform the following duties. The work shall be undertaken within WHO global framework in order to ensure consistent and coherent designing standards across the Region:

1. Provide creative and effective web designing services for WHO/SEA websites and other graphics designing requirements for electronic presentation:
a. Design visually appealing, high quality and optimized graphics relevant to the content for web pages, multi-media presentations and software applications in line with WHO standard web designing tools, standards and guidelines.
b. Conceptualize and design various concepts and options to provide greater number of design alternates for users to select the most effective design meeting their requirements. In line with WHO Web standards and guidelines.
c. Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material, select style and type, arrangement of layout based upon available space, knowledge of layout principles, and aesthetic design concepts.
d. Design graphics for CD/DVD of various events/meetings/publications etc. including CD labels, CD covers, index page, layout, navigation etc.
e. Manage overall visuals of web sites including design, art directing, critiquing, re-sizing of images and visual solutions for optimal presentation and faster access of the web site.

2. Provide efficient multimedia services for interactive designs and presentations:
a. Develop multimedia animations, movies, interactive galleries and components, presentations. Photographing, photo-copying and capturing images using camera and scanner for web site.
b. Contribute in designing interactive multi-media presentations for various Meetings/ seminars/ workshops/ retreat and other important events.
c. Audio-Video editing and streamline audio/video recordings to be posted on the website or use in multi-media projects and presentations.

3. Effectively contribute in developing WHO/SEA Regional Office and Country Offices websites in line with WHO standard web development tools, standards and guidelines:
a. Contribute to regular updating of the information on WHO/SEA Internet/Intranet web sites including periodic publications, reports, documents etc.
b. Define meta data for indexing of web pages to facilitate quick and easy search of web content through search engines.
c. Assist in conversion of documents, books publications, reports etc. into PDF format and web pages for web compatibility, for which electronic copy is not available.
d. Optimize all visual elements of SEAR web sites for faster access of web pages.
e. Produce CD ROM version of SEARO website or required sub-sites to be used in non-connected environment at WR Offices or for roaming users.
f. Prepare design templates and develop the repository of various objects required to maintain standard and corporate look throughout WHO/SEA web sites.

4. Serve as a backup for other team members in Project Management and Communication Services team in their absence. Carry out any other duties relevant to the job, as required by the supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Secondary School education supplemented by relevant courses in Information Technology.
Formal Training in web designing and development tools. Well versed in structured web development methodologies and information technology.
Skills:
Very good knowledge and working experience of latest Graphic Designing and Multimedia Tools. Sound practical experience in designing layout and graphics for website and software applications, creation and editing of Audio, Video and Animation using standard web designing tools.
Knowledge of best practices and standards of ICT including ITIL, other Project Mgt. Technologies.
Ability to meet deadlines, cope with constant work pressure, adapt to changes in technology, Team working skills.
Knowledge of WHO web policies, standards and guidelines, environments and procedures is an advantage
Experience:
At least six years of progressively responsible experience in Graphics Designing. Some experience in UN system is desirable.
Languages:
Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
Additional Information:

Annual salary: (Net of tax)
INR 786340 at single rate
