Background / General description:
The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, is a global investor and advisor committed to promoting projects in its developing member countries that are economically beneficial, financially and commercially sound, and environmentally and socially sustainable. IFC is recruiting an Investment Officer to help develop financial sector client relationships in the Andean Region. The Investment Officer will be a member of the Financial Markets team in Colombia, with the main objective of helping the team identify business opportunities, execute transactions and actively manage portfolio clients. The overall goal of the job holder is to maximize the impact of IFC's intervention and to contribute to the regional and/or sector industry development in our countries of operation by executing innovative, developmental and profitable investments for IFC.

Duties and Accountabilities:
- Lead IFC’s financial sector business development efforts in the Andean Region in accordance with the Financial Markets and regional strategy;

- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, banking and multilateral partners to further develop the sector and to develop specific investment opportunities;

- Develop financial models and robust technical analyses to support credit decisions. Design products and structure potential IFC debt, equity, and quasi-equity investments;

- Actively participate in the structuring, negotiating and execution of deals in a leading or supporting role;

- Analyze and appraise all aspects of new investment proposals including financial, operational, commercial, legal, corporate governance, and environmental and social sustainability elements; and prepare investment recommendations where appropriate;

- Prepare investment review materials and presentation to investment committee to obtain approval. Negotiate in coordination with internal and external legal advisors the legal agreements and documentations of the transaction;

- Establish and maintain relationships with existing clients to ensure responsive client service and enhance new business opportunities and support portfolio supervision process including quarterly reviews.

- Track compliance of portfolio clients with reporting requirements, including monitoring the flow of financial statements and other reports, monitor development results; aggregate and analyze portfolio information data; coordinate communications with the necessary departments; monitor client compliance with their legal agreement with IFC. Propose courses of action in the event of non-compliance;

- Identify and evaluate opportunities to increase the social development impact of new or portfolio projects.

Selection Criteria:
- MBA or equivalent degree with specialization in finance;

- Professional experience (5+ years) in finance with a proven track record or sourcing, structuring and closing investments;

- Strong financial, analytical, and credit assessment skills, sound knowledge of loan investment documentation, accounting, financial statement analysis and financial modeling;

- Sound business judgment, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple client relationships and investment projects simultaneously;

- Ability to multi-task, deal with conflicting priorities and deliver high quality work on schedule;

- Ability to interact directly and independently with the management of potential clients and of financial and technical partners;

- Motivation to work in a development institution and commitment to sustainable private sector development;

- Ability to work effectively in multicultural, matrix and multi-disciplinary team, with a strong team work focus;

- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including complete fluency in Spanish and English.
