Nine of Barrick's mining operations are managed within the Australia Pacific regional business unit, with its head office located in Perth, Western Australia

We are currently seeking an experienced Mine Manager to join the Barrick team at our Lawlers operation in Western Australia.

Reporting to the Site General Manager, the Mine Manager is responsible for managing the Underground Mining team to ensure the production schedule is optimized without compromise in safety standards.

The key accountabilities for the position include, but are not limited to:

• Development of a “Life of Mine” plan
• Driving the mining strategy and assisting the General Manager in the development of overall business strategy
• Development, maintenance and improvement of mining systems which include operational control systems, contractor management systems and safety and training systems
• Ensuring your department complies with all legal obligations concerning environmental policies and procedures and intervene where necessary

You will bring previous leadership and management of a multi-disciplinary mining department to the role, combined with tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience in Mine Planning, Mine Engineering and a demonstrated commitment to health and safety as well as the active development of your employees will be crucial to the success of this position.

Other requirements:

• Member of AusIMM will be highly desirable
• WA Mine Managers Certificate of Competency
• Significant experience in an underground environment
• Understanding of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations

The position is fly in/fly out from Perth on an 8/6 roster. Excellent on-site accommodation is provided. Recreational facilities include internet café, Foxtel, swimming pool, tennis court, squash court and gymnasium.
