NGO & Stakeholder Relations Manager Malaysia

Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn. Bhd. (6087-M) has been operating for more than a century in Malaysia and is looking forward to more exciting and challenging years ahead. We refine, supply, trade and ship crude oil and petroleum products, as well as market and sell transportation fuels, lubricants, speciality products and technical services.
Responsibilities:
To achieve effective external reputation management on behalf of the Shell Group in support of Royal Dutch Shell business goals.

Provide strategic leadership of Social Investment activities in-country.

Maintain and manage credible and trusting relationships with a defined network of focused stakeholders (NGOs and civil society leaders) of Group interest in the relevant country from an international public policy and reputation standpoint.

Map key country external stakeholders and conduct stakeholder (after action and pre deployment) reviews where required.

Work with senior management team as appropriate as well as in face-to-face engagements with Group stakeholders.

Oversee reputation (Issues Identification and Management - IIM) in the country.

Support campaign leads/country implementation managers to deliver local NGO and stakeholder targets.

Ensuring proper and timely briefing of all NGO & stakeholder relations - especially for issues of regional/ global significance. Where required,provide input into the preparation of relevant region related briefing papers.

Develop and implement country Social Investment strategy; ensuring full and effective contribution from activities.

With stakeholders,define opportunities for Social Investment to support business improvement,maximize community benefits and minimize risks.

Drive capture of internal and external input into Social Investment planning and strategy.

Manage (exit,grow,develop,improve) the mix of national/local programmes contributing to selected areas and themes.

Provide strategic advice to senior management - benchmark with good practice externally.

Input to Group,work on Social Investment and share practices with other countries.

Ensure high quality operations and unique contribution of the shared programmes through team and external partners.

Designated owner of relevant sections in the Social Performance manual.

Ensure maximum Shell reputation benefits of the Social Investment programme amongst stakeholders,media and employees.

Drive external communications for country Social Investment activities.

External representation of Shell Social Investment.

Work with relevant stakeholders to support employee matching and volunteering schemes.

Provide guidance and coordination to Social Investment activities for assets,new ventures and businesses as part of their Social Performance strategy.

Commercial partnership management including contract negotiation.

National benchmarking of Social Investment of competitors and industry leaders.



Requirements:
Degree qualified, senior, experienced communications professional with over 8 years' experience (experience in external affairs preferred).

Exposure to the oil and gas businesses with demonstrated ability to seek continuous improvement and efficiency.

Proven ability and experience of working with diverse range of global external stakeholders – particularly in relevant region.

Experience in creating and executing stakeholder engagement and influencing strategies.

Analytical abilities to decipher complex issues and information, distilling key messages and utilizing this information for effective stakeholder engagement.

Experienced in effective working with Government Relations and media.

Understanding of how the media operates, especially with respect to NGO issues.

Confident in the understanding and use of social media.

Experience with working with senior leaders and addressing sensitive issues.

Working knowledge of crisis management framework and standard on preparedness, activation, resolution and learning from crisis.
