Salary:
£21,207 gross starting salary per annum, (consisting of: basic salary- £17,638, London weighting- £2,100 and bonus- £1,469). Plus discounted health care plan.

The General Services Office (GSO) at the U.S. Embassy is in search of a Warehouse Worker.

Duties will include:

  • assisting with the delivery/collection of all furniture, appliances and equipment to residential properties, the Chancery and other locations as directed;
  • driving a non LGV van that is assigned to the warehouse;
  • assembling flat-pack furniture as required;
  • performing minor woodwork repairs and electrical duties as required.

Qualifications Required:

Education:

No formal qualifications are required.

Prior Work Experience:

Work experience handling and delivering household furniture and appliances or office furniture and equipment is required. Experience driving a non LGV van on multi-drop deliveries within a metropolitan area is required.

Language Proficiency:

Level 3, limited knowledge of written and spoken English is required.

Knowledge:

A good working knowledge of non LGV vehicle operating requirements is required. An understanding of warehouse procedures relating to the storage of furniture, appliances and equipment whilst minimizing damage is required.

Skills and Abilities:

Numeracy skills are required. Ability to pay attention to detail is required. Ability to operate basic tools for use in the course of the work is required. Good communication, interpersonal and customer care skills are required. Ability to work as part of a team is required. Ability to follow instructions is required. A willingness to carry out duties occasionally outside normal working hours is required. A current full (manual) UK/EU/EEA driver’s license is required.
