Tetra Tech ARD (www.ardinc.com) is accepting expressions of interests for qualified Global Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation Experts to support the three-year USAID funded Global Climate Change (GCC) Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Project. The project supports USAID’s efforts in assisting countries to accelerate their transition to climate-resilient, low-emissions development. Rigorous evaluation will be essential as the Agency tests innovative pilots and applies lessons learned from development in other sectors to emerging climate change challenges.
This full-time position will be based in the Washington, DC area and will require frequent international travel. There is an immediate start-up date.
Responsibilities:
  • The GCC Subject Matter Expert will be an integral part of, and provide technical leadership to, the core project team on matters related to climate change adaptation and mitigation (in particular sustainable landscapes). Specifically, the GCC Subject Matter Expert will contribute to:
  • Providing technical expertise to USAID missions and projects via in-person consultations, virtual assistance, or field assignments. Anticipated are roles on impact and performance evaluations; technical assistance related to review and revision of USAID Mission Performance Management Plans; ad-hoc responses to specific requests for guidance; and others.
  • Reviewing and, where appropriate revising, the logic and associated indicators of USAID’s GCC program results framework as they relate to adaptation and mitigation based on review of literature and current sector practice.
  • Developing an evaluation plan to shape how and where USAID monitors and evaluates GCC programs.
Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. or ABD preferred) in natural resource management, forestry, agriculture, environmental studies, development studies or other field directly related or relevant to climate change adaptation and mitigation;
  • At least 8 years of relevant and progressively responsible work experience in international development demonstrating substantial and in-depth familiarity with climate change mitigation and/or adaptation interventions and issues in a sustainable development context;
  • Experience monitoring and evaluating USG-funded international development projects;
  • Demonstrated competence to assess priorities, and concurrently manage a variety of activities effectively to meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality;
  • Strong communicator, with strong verbal, writing and editing skills;
  • U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is mandatory.
