The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) is a partnership of the Rockefeller Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and other donors working with African governments, NGOs, the private sector, and African farmers to significantly and sustainably improve the productivity and incomes of resource poor farmers in Africa.

The Director of Policy Program will spearhead policy development and advocacy, and develop strategic partnerships with donors and African governments. We seek a strategic and tactical leader who sees both the big picture and the detail of policy and knows how to turn concepts into on-the-ground results. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Agricultural Economics or a related discipline; be experienced in Africa and agriculture; be well connected at the top levels in government, NGOs, and the private sector; and be respected by a broad range of constituencies from farmer organizations to political, business, and cultural leadership. Specific requirements include the proven ability to:

  • Design, evaluate, and implement a compelling strategic vision and evidence-based policies for promoting agricultural productivity growth in Africa.
  • Engage in policy dialogue at the highest level in governments, with a strong capacity to influence governments’ development agendas.
  • Manage multinational initiatives and lead effective, high impact teams and partnerships.
