Metallurgical Technician

Metallurgical Technician - Barrick Technology Centre, Vancouver

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain a high standard for safety performance and housekeeping and assume the responsibility of maintaining a safe working environment in your area.
Conduct laboratory experiments under the direction of a Metallurgist.
Setup equipment and conduct testwork according to the procedure provided.
Accurately record measurements and observations made during the test.
Prepare and submit samples of test products for analysis.
Prepare templates to record data. Conduct metallurgical balance calculations.
Conduct sample preparation as directed including crushing, sample spitting, compositing, pulverizing.
Operation of pilot plants and technology demonstrations, such as autoclave leaching, carbon-in-leach, sulfide flotation, column heap leaching tests, bio-leaching.
Conduct continuous pilot plant and technology demonstrations.
Troubleshooting and making necessary adjustments to maintain target operating conditions.
Follow standard operating procedures provided.
Perform the ASP (Area Safety Person) responsibilities and duties.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Chemical Technology diploma will be highly regarded

· Ability to work well as part of a team and at times unsupervised.

· Strong communication skills together with a safety orientated approach.

· Innovative approach to problem solving.

· Ability to multi-task and, on occasion, to perform repetitive tasks.

· Work requires, at times, executing strenuous tasks, working outdoors, and working shifts up to 12 hours
