Metallurgist

Metallurgist - Barrick Technology Centre, Vancouver(1 Year Contract)

Purpose:
To identify, research, develop and test metallurgical technologies and innovative processes for the safe and environmentally sound processing of gold and other ores.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Supervise project teams including technicians and summer students
  • Provide detailed instructions, assign tasks
  • Ensure that metallurgical projects are completed on schedule to meet the required deliverables
  • Ensure successful coordination between Barrick and external consultants
  • Ensure successful coordination between Barrick and external engineering firms
  • Ensure that metallurgical programs, feasibility studies, and construction projects are carried out meeting environmental and safety requirements

The nature of this role requires effective relationships to be built with several groups of people, including Barrick co-workers, external laboratories, external consultants, and external engineering firms.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Preferred education: Bachelor of Engineering, Metallurgy (or related discipline)
  • 1 - 3 years related work experience
  • Knowledge of metallurgical testwork flowsheets, processes, and procedures
  • Knowledge of QA/QC programs, Computer literacy (MS Office, MS Project, etc)
