Policy and Participation Officer The National Autistic Society

The National Autistic Society wants a world where all people with autism and their families get to lead the life they choose.
There are still far too many people with autism who do not get the support or understanding they deserve. In this crucial role, you will join our Policy and Campaigns team, championing the rights of people with autism and their families across the South West.
You will campaign across the South West for better services and support for people with autism and their families, and empower those people to campaign for themselves. You will develop strategic relationships with politicians and other key decision-makers, finding local angles to engage our key campaigning targets, and you will work with our policy team to influence the Government policies that affect people with autism.
Maximising your ability to build strong relationships, your pragmatic, solution-focused attitude and your perseverance, you will campaign to ensure people with autism and their families get the right support in areas such as education, social care and employment.
Your proven expertise in working directly with decision-makers, enthusiasm for working alongside people with autism and their families, and passion for campaigning will help us to ensure that people affected by autism have a voice in the South West of England and across the country.
Applications are sought from all suitably qualified sections of the community but particularly welcome from those with a diagnosis of autism or Asperger syndrome.
The NAS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and adults who use our services and as such expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
The NAS is an equal opportunities employer.
