Power Engineer - African Development Bank (ADB)

Drive some of the most exciting energy development projects in Africa.

Power Engineer

The Energy, Environment and Climate Change Department of the African Development Bank has the vital role of managing energy operations in Regional Member Countries. As the name suggests, it champions climate change and environmental issues, whilst working to make us the leader in developing, financing and implementing energy projects in Africa.

Reporting directly to the Sector Manager, you will lead policy and strategy reviews, direct studies and analyses, and provide expert advice on the full spectrum of energy sector development issues. Notably, you will appraise potential projects and conduct high-level negotiations, whilst championing regional partnerships, preparing detailed briefings and overseeing a substantial portfolio of programmes. This will give you exceptional visibility and considerable impact on our strategic direction and bottom line, as well as making you a catalyst for change in the countries in which we operate.

To join us, you will need at least a Master’s degree in Electromechanical, Electro-technical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, ideally supported by an advanced qualification in Economics or Finance. Equally importantly, you will possess extensive experience of planning, designing, constructing, supervising and maintaining energy infrastructure, backed by in-depth understanding of project lifecycles. Finally, you will be capable of networking productively with senior stakeholders and securing buy-in to your ideas, demanding a good command of either English or French with proficiency in the other.

Closing date: 26th May, 2012.
