Programme Implementation Officer Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat

The Secretariat seeks suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the vacant position of Programme Implementation Officer in its Strategic Partnerships & Coordination Programme.

The Programme Implementation Officer position will be responsible to the Director through the Development Cooperation Adviser for:
• technical support for the implementation of declarations from Taiwan/ROC Summitry Processes and Dialogue;
• funds management of Regional Funding Assistance/Programmes;
• policy implementation and advocacy;
• quick and effective response to requests from executive and Forum member countries for the provision of correspondence, briefings, media statements and reporting; and
• the development and delivery of agreed work programmes and budgets, and preparation of reports.

Applicants should have a University degree/Post Graduate qualification in development economics, development studies and/or related areas with at least 5 years relevant work experience in development cooperation and project/programme management in Pacific Island Countries.

Applicants should have the ability to work well with a small team of professional staff and strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to the diverse needs of those in a multi-cultural environment.

Applicants should be willing to travel economy class.

The position is based at the Secretariat’s headquarters in Suva, Fiji.

The appointment will carry a competitive remuneration and benefits package including medical and life insurance. Using the April 2012 exchange rates, the annual salary for this position is placed at Band 9 of the Secretariat salary scales and will be in the range of SDR 23,653 to SDR 35,479 (equivalent to FJD64,590 to FJD96,884).
