The GN language services are rapidly developing and expanding the range and breadth of video content produced for both Online and traditional broadcast outlets, as well as providing video content to partner broadcasters.

Role

Working closely with the GN editorial teams and the Head of Technology GN, you will be providing expert technical advice on the full range of GN video production activities, systems and initiatives. You will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for GN Video Production issues, representing Global News on user groups, pan-BBC project boards and at News Group boards where appropriate.

You will act as a single point of contact with project delivery teams and Technology Operations reps in relation to new/emerging GN video requirements, new project requests, rollout of system upgrades, and other changes to video production technology systems and facilities in New Broadcasting House and Peel Wing.

Project proposal writing (PIF/PDD etc...) and subsequent owning/monitoring is a key component of this role, which will allow you to initiate project delivery activity for all new projects as they are approved, and to track project delivery through to completion.

Requirements

You will bring substantial experience; the majority of which should have been obtained within a technology innovation or implementation environment or similar, ideally with a good proportion operating effectively at a senior level. That experience will be supported by an informed knowledge across a range of technology such as: IT, Information Security, Broadcast Technology, Delivery Technology, Production Technology, Acquisition Technology, Enterprise Technology and Consumer Technology.

Emerging technologies can change the BBC, and you will need to show an ability to build a plan/strategy for their integration into the business. An understanding of how strategy can integrate into business processes and bring business benefits is also essential.

Being a strong influencer with the ability to write and communicate complex technologies and processes in a clear and coherent way is key, as is the knowledge of software development methodologies and their application to the BBC.

You will need to demonstrate experience of leading a team, showing evidence of dealing with complex management issues, dealing with multiple projects, managing conflict and using core skills to ensure that projects/assignments are properly commissioned and delivered into the business.
