Project Manager I, Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Project Manager I, Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
 
Position Description:

The Project Manager will be under supervision of the Country Director and the Project Director, End Neglected Tropical Diseases in Asia and will provide day-to-day supervision of END in Asia program activities and staff in Papua New Guinea (PNG). This position is based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
 
Programmatic and financial management
  • Oversee the design and implementation of all NTD program activities in PNG in collaboration with the NDOH.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance for ensuring the contractual outputs and deliverables are in compliance with USAID standards and meet the beneficiaries’ needs as planned and approved.
  • Ensure budgets and implementation plans are adhered to as approved.
  • Guide monthly program reviews, monitor the preparation of monthly and quarterly plans and reports, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate the development of work plans and reports to ensure objectives and expected results are achieved.
  • Coordinate short-term technical assistance, as needed.
  • Ensure compliance of all contractual agreements with FHI 360 policies and procedures.
  • Provide regular updates on the progress of project activities.
  • Represent FHI360 in the NTD technical working group, workshops, policy dialogues, advocacy events.
  • In liaison with and support from the senior program officers and Senior Finance Officer, make monthly financial plans (cash flow) appropriate to the efficient delivery of Program.
  • Monitor financial expenditure and timely address any variance against budget.
 
Staff management
  • Motivate and lead the team in meeting program objectives.
  • Manage direct line reports within a clear performance management framework, and to facilitate their individual development plans in order to optimize team performance.
  • Promote a positive culture of high performance, customer service, continuous improvement, two-way communication, and teamwork.
 
Other Duties
  • Fulfill other appropriate level responsibilities as defined by the Country Director, Project Director, END in Asia or deputy director from time to time.
 
The Project Manager position necessitates extensive travel requiring a substantial amount of time spent outside of the office working with different stakeholders in provinces where project activities are implemented.
 
 
Minimum Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent in public health, medicine, development studies, development management, social work, project management, or a related field. Post graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years (7-9 preferred) relevant work experience, including program/project management experience in the Pacific region, preferably in Papua New Guinea.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills working on large programs with rigorous financial management procedures and processes;
  • Experience managing and reporting on large donor-funded programs
  • Knowledge of donor planning and reporting systems particularly USAID
  • Ability to work well with others and to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to coordinate diverse activities
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to travel within country or region and internationally if needed, at short notice.
