Technical Officer II, Civil Society Specialist , Jamaica

Position Description:
FHI 360 is currently seeking a Civil Society Specialist for the anticipated USAID-funded Community Empowerment and Transformation II Project in in Jamaica which will aim to increase peace and security by reducing crime and corruption. The Civil Society Specialist will play a lead role in the design and implementation of the program’s activities aimed at increasing civic participation and civil society engagement in reducing crime and corruption. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
  • Overseeing the design and implementation of the program’s activities aimed at strengthening civil society and fostering civic engagement.
  • Managing data collection, training, and supervising civil society and civic participation activities of program staff and sub-contractors;
  • Providing technical assistance to local civil society organizations, to strengthen their organizational and technical capacity,  and to develop sustainability plans;
  • Contributing to written performance reports for USAID and other program deliverables.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field;
  • Direct experience managing and executing civil society strengthening and/or civic engagement activities for donor-funded programs in Jamaica;
  • At least 5 years’ experience coordinating with government officials, local organizations, and   local communities in the design, implementation, and monitoring of development activities;
  • Oral and written fluency in English with excellent communication skills;
