Job Profile
Working within the Economics and Research team reporting to Chief Executive, The Chief Economist will supply analysis and commentary about the role of banks in economic growth and contribute to policy initiatives that enable growth.
The main duties of the role are:
  • Interpret and communicate industry wide data, working with the BBA statistics team.
  • Analyse and provide appropriate commentary (for internal or external use) about government and other industry-wide initiatives such as the Funding for Lending Scheme.
  • Develop and communicate policy or regulatory initiatives that would enable banks to contribute more to economic growth, including overseeing submissions to government including pre-budget submissions.
  • To more widely provide analysis and commentary on the role of banks in economic growth.
  • Do media work as necessary, in collaboration with the communications team.
Candidate profile
Qualifications/education required:
  • Economics Degree
Experience required
  • Using quantitative techniques in statistical and economic analysis.
  • Communicating work effectively to different audiences.
Knowledge / skills required
  • Able to apply technical ability flexibly to policy-relevant research questions across a range of different topics and fields.
  • Outstanding research skills
