Position Summary
Working with the Governance, Security and Justice (GSJ) practice, the purpose of this position is to manage various activities relating to the project cycle in a specific sector through business development, project management and relationship management. This includes the promotion of the business to potential clients and the identification of project opportunities, the preparation of project bids, project mobilisation and ongoing project management with implementation on time and on budget to meet project and client needs.  The post-holder will also be expected to establish monitoring and evaluation frameworks for projects working with in-house specialists.
The Manager will have prime responsibility for a portfolio of work which makes a financial contribution to the GSJ practice and Coffey International Development as a whole. This will primarily be achieved through the acquisition and management of development projects, but will also invoice the provision of direct consultancy inputs to projects.
The role of Manager will also contribute to the development of company policy, systems and procedures in the areas of business development, project management, quality control, communications and people management.
Key Areas of Accountability
Project Management
  • Manage projects in a timely fashion through structured work plans ensuring that teams operate effectively, assignments are implemented efficiently and deliverables meet clients’ expectations
  • Manage projects ensuring compliance with project management guidelines, including finance and contract management, document control and quality assurance
  • Deliver project inputs to the company’s standards
  • Contract formulation, negotiation and management in compliance with company procedures and where relevant, client terms and conditions
  • Project financial management, including preparation of project budgets, monitoring of project expenditure and project financial reporting
  • Oversight of the recruitment, procurement and mobilisation of consultants and sub-contractors ensuring consultants deliver assignments to meet client and business needs
  • Prepare reports and other deliverables, complying with corporate styles and formats
  • Undertake visits as part of the process for managing and monitoring projects
Business Development
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers and vendors to enhance engagement and service levels and support market and knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to market planning and business development, including input to the business plan, development of budgets and resource management to achieve targets
  • Manage the tendering and proposal development process, including planning, development of approach and methodology, recruitment of team and consortium partners and negotiation of terms, together with coordinating bid team and corporate resources
  • Assist in the development of project materials and products in existing and new markets
  • Sell and deliver personal billable days in accordance with agreed targets
Financial Management
  • Prepare project budgets in accordance with company procedures
  • Monitor the performance of the project against budget and prepare reports explaining deviations and proposed responses
  • Ensure the maintenance of project financial records and preparation of management accounts in accordance with company procedures
Leadership
