Head of New York UN Liaison Office

We are currently seeking to recruit a Head of New York UN Liaison Office.
 About the Role
 
Plan’s liaison office to the UN Headquarters in New York is aligned with Plan’s One Plan One GoalStrategy, pursuing contact with key UN decision-makers and Member States. Guided by the Global Advocacy Strategic Framework (GASF) and its goals and objectives plus One Plan UN Strategy, the Plan Liaison Office to the UN engages with the UN, its Agencies and Mechanisms in a strategic manner to gain political support for children’s rights, as well as to influence UN outcomes  and contribute to a lasting environment in which the rights of children and youth are respected, protected, and fulfilled. The office have a particular focus on their rights to education and protection, striving for non-discrimination, equality and inclusion, highlighting especailly the violations of rights of girls, bearing in mind the advocacy goals of our Because I am a Girl campaing, as well as ensuring child and youth participation by facilitating the voices of children and youth to be heard to inform UN debates.
We are looking for an individual who will play a crucial role in strengthening the communication and collaboration with other Plan offices in order to facilitate and support their presence and involvement with the work of the United Nations. The incumbent shall be able to communicate decisions taken at the UN relevant to Plan offices.
Ideally you will have significant and proven experience in international work environments and intercultural communication, including a strong understanding of NGO structures and the UN human rights system and how these operate. Ideally have documented experience in advocacy and lobby work with international actors. A masters’ degree or equivalent experience in human rights, political science, international development, or any other specific field relevant to Plan’s work. Understanding of, or experience in, implementing and monitoring child rights in a national /international context along with Knowledge on sustainable development and child rights are an asset.
This role is based in New York you must have the right to work in the US. There will be some occasional travel with this role.
It is a full time, permanent position which reports to the Director of Policy, Advocacy and Campaigns
We are offering a competitive package, Salary up to $120,000
