Tigers Alive Initiative Law Enforcement and Intelligence Advocacy Coordinator

We are looking for a Tigers Alive Initiative Law Enforcement and Intelligence Advocacy Coordinator who will be responsible for leading WWF’s work in advocating for intensified efforts by tiger range governments to halt poaching within the countries responsible for the last remaining tiger populations. 

Location:

WWF office in Malaysia

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead a campaign to mobilise effort from all tiger range governments towards Zero Poaching (together with the other policy and communication staff working in the core team or other offices and programmes contributing to the Tigers Alive Initiative) to put in place the mechanisms to halt poaching as fast as possible
  • Input into international and national policy discussions on protected area management, intelligence sharing and analysis, crime prevention, ranger welfare and standards for anti-poaching
  • Establish strong partnerships with relevant organisations at the global regional, national and local scales in order to best amplify the implementation of the objectives relating to Zero Poaching, which also includes promoting the intelligence led law enforcement approach
  • Collaborate with TRAFFIC to ensure synergies between anti-poaching work and anti-trafficking/intelligence activities, especially those which address landscape-level intelligence work and its link to enforcement operations
  • Manage and adapt procedures for monitoring the impact and progress of the Zero Poaching activities
  • Act as the figurehead for Zero Poaching internally and externally of WWF. This would include supporting communication activities involving media interviews, blogs, press releases, expertise networks, in addition to the development and implementation of various communication activities and products

What you need:

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
  • Relevant qualification in protected area management and/or law enforcement.
  • At least 10 years’ experience working in the field of anti-poaching and/or protected area management.
  • Strategic planning and capacity assessment skills related to effective crime prevention approaches.
  • Ability to manage monitoring systems.
  • Fundraising and donor reporting skills.
  • Experience in tiger range states an added advantage
  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Culturally aware and able to work effectively in various cultural environments.
  • A team player, but also very capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent budgeting and financial management capacity.
  • Exhibits great enthusiasm for wildlife conservation.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English. Knowledge of at least one Asian language is an added advantage
