Chair in Global Urbanism , The University of Manchester

The School of Environment and Development at the University of Manchester seeks to appoint a Chair in Global Urbanism. The post is tenable from 1 September 2012.

Salary will be on the Professorial Scale Ref: HUM-00685

You will have specialist interests in poverty, inequality and exclusion in cities of the global South. Through this appointment SED seeks to advance its already strong reputation for developing new understandings of the processes of urbanism in the global South and identify practical means for intervening in / re-shaping these processes so that they contribute to human welfare and social justice. You should be experienced in cross-disciplinary research and may come from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds such as anthropology, architecture, development studies, economics, geography, planning, politics, sociology or urban studies.
