Pro Bono Program Specialist, Qatar

The ABA Rule of Law Initiative seeks a legal specialist to initiate a pro bono legal program through which practicing Qatari attorneys would support women entrepreneurs in establishing and operating their own businesses in Qatar.

With guidance from the ABA ROLI Country Director in Qatar, the specialist will assist with the recruitment of Qatari legal professionals to serve as pro bono advisors. He/She will also create the structure and tools necessary to launch an attorney referral and pro bono system, a first of its kind in Qatar.

The ideal candidate will have a background in business law with a focus on small business and/or entrepreneurship. The focus of the specialist’s skills should be operational relative to creating or running a pro bono program. He/She will be based in Doha, Qatar for three weeks in either April or May.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate referral system project to local law firms and Qatari attorneys to recruit pro bono participants
  • Generate a confirmed participant database
  • Create system structure and full life-cycle implementation plan for project launch after specialist’s departure
  • Teach workshops on legal aspects of starting and operating a business


Qualifications


Education – JD required.

Work Experience –A minimum of five years working in the field of business law is required. Previous experience in operating a domestic pro bono program is required.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Travel Requirements – Must be able to travel to Doha, Qatar.
