The Institute of Development Studies (IDS) is one of the world’s leading organisations for research, teaching and communications on international development. The Institute works with a network of global partners to generate cutting edge knowledge as a basis for bringing alternative ideas and fresh solutions to the real world challenges of development policy and practice.

We are seeking to recruit an experienced Programme Coordinator for a new cross-institute, policy-focused, 4 year programme of work.

This role will involve administrative coordination across the various strands of work, ensuring delivery against objectives and timescales, and close oversight and control of the budget and financial resources. It will involve coordination with research and professional staff at IDS, partners distributed globally, and colleagues in the donor organisation.

You will have substantial experience in research administration, with demonstrated ability in effective project management, budgetary management and in meeting funder requirements. You will have excellent networking, communication and interpersonal skills, and it would be desirable for you to have some knowledge of and interest in modern communication techniques and information technology. You will be highly efficient and well organised, with an ability to work proactively, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines, use initiative, whilst maintaining quality and attention to detail.

This post is dependent on securing funding for the programme which is still under negotiation.

The postholder will report to the Director of the programme.

Salary: £23,587 to £35,231 per annum, in the IDS Grade 6 salary scale
