Research Consultant -Public Expenditure And Budgeting With Gender Perspective

Fee to be discussed
6-month contract
Based Mexico or Internationally
At Oxfam, research informs every major decision, from campaigning and development programmes to advocacy and individual projects. Right now, we want to investigate budgeting and expenditure in relation to gender within Latin America & the Caribbean (LAC). Over to you.
The role
A mixture of desk-based and field research, this contract will see you explore public investment from a gender perspective. Your work will span most countries in the region, painting an accurate and sophisticated picture that takes into account the social, environmental and economic aspects of expenditure and budgeting. This will inform our advocacy activities, particularly when it comes to key work on agricultural and rural development. However, the scope of your work will extend far beyond regular status reports and country-level analyses. The recommendations you make will highlight new priorities and drive the direction of our communications throughout the region.
What we’re looking for
An experienced researcher with a strong background in budget and policy analysis at both national and local levels, you’ll be an expert on citizen budgets, transparency and accountability. Naturally, you’ll also show exceptional communication skills and have established your ability to produce quality reports to deadlines. And, in addition to being familiar with gender-sensitive budgets, you’ll bring us a solid understanding of the LAC area, including fluency in both Spanish and English.
About Oxfam
A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There’s enough wealth in this world to go around. It’s not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It’s unjustifiable. It’s not just their problem. It’s ours too. And with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. Thousands of people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we’re looking for yours.
