Director, Strategy and Policy , Office of Rail Regulation

The Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) is the independent safety and economic regulator for Britain’s railways, working to ensure a safe, efficient and effective service for all its users. Following the 2011 McNulty Review, the railway system faces a period of transformation and challenge. The ORR will play a key role in supporting this changing sector through best-practice regulation.
The Director, Strategy & Policy will be at the heart of the ORR’s future direction, working to maximise its impact and effectiveness. Reporting to the Chief Executive and engaging closely with the ORR board, the Director will lead a small but highly-skilled team to ensure that the ORR’s strategy, plans and activities are fully aligned.

This is a senior and demanding role, and candidates will bring an impressive track record in strategy and policy development, ideally within a regulator or a regulated industry. The successful candidate will be an inspirational leader, communicator and influencer, able to work effectively in a fast-changing environment.
