The Malaria Public Health & Epidemiology Group (MPHEG) is part of the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) -Wellcome Trust Research Programme. The Malaria Public Health & Epidemiology Group (MPHEG) initiated an international initiative called the Malaria Atlas Project (MAP) in 2005. The aim of MAP is to assemble, curate and geo-locate malariometric data and process these data using model-based geostatistical methods to provide a range of risk maps for international agencies, national governments and research purposes. The MAP-Africa team intends to produce a definitive set of historical and contemporary maps of malaria risk across Africa in 2014.

We are looking for someone to manage and position MAP-Africa within the broader malaria control agenda regionally by creating an effective user community and network of applications of MAP in the control and elimination of malaria. This will require working with national ministries of health, international agencies and donor communities.

You will have a PhD in Epidemiology or Public Health and have extensive experience in managing international research networks in global health and grant writing. The availability to travel regionally across Africa, Europe and USA is essential.

This post is available for two years in the first instance.

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Thursday 17 May 2012 will be considered.
