Metallurgical Services Trainer- Developer United States

The Process Mechanical Trainer develops and conducts training programs for electrical and instrumentation technicians in the Process area to ensure technicians have the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude to perform their assigned tasks in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner.

Responsibilities include:
• Complying with all legal obligations, Barrick Safety & Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
• Cooperating with supervisors, coordinators and managers on managing of Safety, Health and environmental issues.
• Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all employees and contractors.
• Participating in incident investigations and practical corrective actions as needed, ensuring that corrective actions are effectively implemented and tracked.
• Collaborate with management to condut needs analysis studies to determine training needs within organization.
• Formulating teaching outline and determining instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops.
• Selecting and developing testing and evaluation procedures to be used prior to and at completion of training.
• Coordinating on-the-job training activities with field trainers and supervisors.
• Conducting training sessions covering specific areas such as new employee orientation, on-the-job training, use of computers and software, apprenticeship programs, health and safety practices, and refresher training.
• Draft policies and procedures for area of responsibility and submit to management team for approval.
• Maintain monthly reports, inspections, and records as required.

SELECTION CRITERIA

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:

• Five (5) to ten (10) years electrical and instrumentation experience, preferably in a mining environment required.
• Three (3) years training or frontline supervisory experience, preferably in a mining environment preferred.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Demonstrated safety leadership required.
• Willingness to adhere to and demonstrate Barrick’s core values and beliefs and act in accordance with these values required.
• Ability to work effectively with maintenance technicians and personnel of other departments required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and willingness to work in team environment required.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required.
