Policy Dialogue & Implementation Expert– REDD+ Program - ECUADOR

Tetra Tech ARD (http://www.ardinc.com), a leading international development consulting firm based in Burlington, Vermont and Washington, D.C., is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified local Environment Policy experts as part of the USAID funded Ecuador REDD+ program. This project will concentrate its assistance on those areas that will strengthen capacity, policies, and procedures from the national to the local level to reduce emissions from land degradation and deforestation, while ensuring Ecuador is ready to participate in any compliance driven carbon market that emerges.
This position is full time and will be based in Quito, Ecuador, and will require periodic travel within the country. Ecuadorian Professionals are encouraged to apply.
Anticipated Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead activities to strengthen the capacity of local actors (government and civil society) to reduce GHG emissions from forest and land use;
  • Work closely with COP and other project personnel to build effective partnerships with key sub-national authorities and stakeholders at regional levels and to ensure the implementation of national policies in targeted regions.
  • Be responsible for monitoring the implementation and the effectiveness of appropriate project activities.
Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Governance, Policy Dialogue, or Social Science, and a Bachelors in Natural Resource Management or related technical field;
  • Minimum 6 years of work experience in governance policy or related area and at least 4 years’ experience implementing programs related to Environmental planning, specifically conservation, forest planning, and monitoring of carbon;
  • Demonstrated experience building capacity of local governments, and supporting citizen participation;
  • Demonstrated experience working with international organizations and civil society institutions;
  • Experience in Ecuador required;
  • Fluency in Spanish and English required;
