Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer
Reports To: Superintendent – Process Site Services
Location: Pueblo Viejo Site
Position Overview: The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for utilities optimization projects, project planning and technical expertise associated with operation and improvements for the Pueblo Viejo Mine power systems. The systems include site power distribution equipment (230 kV to 4160 kV), generators and facility electrical equipment.
The Senior Electrical Engineer will. The Senior Electrical Engineer will assist with coordination, monitoring and implementing site needs for the power distribution system. The Senior Electrical Engineer will. The Senior Electrical Engineer must adhere to all safety, health and environmental policies, standards, programs and comply with external regulations such as OSHA, MSHA, EPA as well as internal standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in the development of electrical and instrumentation standards and procedures.
  • Participate in a leading, hands-on role during the plant commissioning to ensure an expedient and smooth transition into operations.
  • Lead the Power Dispatch group who are responsible for coordination of National grid and PVDC owned power generation, forecasting power demands and ensuring a safe and reliable electrical supply is maintained to the PVDC mine site (total load approximately 180MW)
  • Ensure all high voltage protection relays are suitably managed and maintained.
  • Review designs, evaluate systems, recommend and assist in the implementation of electrical equipment in order to improve safety, reliability, cost, and quality of the mine site processes
  • Provide engineering assistance for electrical disruptions, interruptions and corrective maintenance of distribution systems/equipment
  • Assist with determination and coordination of spare parts for power distribution systems
  • Act as primary technical and operational contact for electrical suppliers and other outside services as required
· Promote a safe, efficient and effective work culture focused on continuous improvement and achievement.
· Assist with plant and equipment maintenance strategies
· Work closely with the Superintendent – Process Site Services and E&I Supervisor to ensure safe, reliable and cost effective performance of the power systems.
· Contribute to skills development by actively imparting knowledge to, and providing on-the-job training and mentoring of, Dominican national technicians and trainees.
· Assist with development of preventative maintenance programs, installation and repair activities of electrical and instrumentation systems and equipment as required.
Supervisory Requirements: The Senior Electrical Engineer will directly supervise the Power Dispatch group consisting of 1 X Senior Power Dispatch Engineer and 5 X Power Dispatch Engineers.

Qualifications:

Education: BSEE degree or similar

Experience: 7+ years experience working with power distribution systems and problem solving power distribution and industrial site electrical systems. The Senior Electrical Engineer must be knowledgeable with computer systems, software, reliability engineering methodology and principles. The Senior Electrical Engineer must demonstrate excellent written, verbal and organizational skills.
Skills & Abilities
· Demonstrated ability leading project and maintenance teams.
· Proficient in the use of Microsoft products and CMMS systems.
· Proven technical skills fault finding and repairing complex electrical, instrumentation and control and communication systems.
· Competent operating high and medium voltage electrical switchgear.
· Able to work with minimal supervision and support in a technically challenging plant.
· Experienced fault finding and troubleshooting of high voltage electrical systems and equipment.
· Above average communication skills
· Proven ability training and developing others.
· Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
