Position Description:

The Writer will support the strategic planning and development of FANTA III publications and materials, including product conceptualization, substantive editing and reorganization, and visual presentation. Specific responsibilities include:

Take the lead in substantive editing and writing projects with input from project staff on reports, guides, briefs, and other project documents.

Format documents in accordance with project style and branding guidance.

Provide editorial support to project technical staff, ranging from copyediting to substantive editing; provide support on project reporting to USAID.

Work with project technical staff to document project results and activities for use in internal and external communication efforts.

Work with technical staff to repurpose publications and other communications materials to meet the needs of different audiences.

Respond to internal and external requests for information.

Other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred plus a minimum of 6 years of experience writing and editing a wide variety of document types, preferably focusing on publications related to international development in the health and nutrition sectors; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with Chicago, AP, and other editing styles; Knowledge of USAID and its program and contractual requirements and government accountability is strongly preferred; Desktop publishing experience in MS Word required; experience in Adobe Creative Suite preferred; Experience working in international development a plus.
