WWF Cameroon, Programme Manager

In order to ensure the implementation of the WWF Kudu Zombo Conservation Programme in the Campo Ma’an landscape to the highest standards, the WWF seeks a Programme Manager for its Cameroon Country Programme Office.


Under the supervision of the National Conservation Director, the Programme Manager’s major duties and responsibilities are:
  • Supervises and coordinates the development and implementation of all WWF field activities in the landscape – planning, budgeting, implementation and reporting;
  • Responsible for the overall management of the programmatic funding to the landscape
  • Preparation of annual budgets and also ensures strict compliance with laid down financial procedures
  • Ensures the preparation and coordination of joint annual work plans for the Kudu-Zombo Programme and partnership with the programmes executing partners, notably MINFOF
  • Supervise and coordinate the WWF staff team on site and liaise with other WWF Cameroon staff
  • Ensures programme compliance with technical, monitoring/evaluation and reporting requirements of donors and WWF
  • Undertakes fund raising and lobbying activities within WWF network and donor community aimed at securing necessary funds for implementation of conservation and sustainable use activities in collaboration with the Head of Conservation;

Profile:


Required Qualifications

  • Advanced university degree in an appropriate field (conservation / environment / natural resource management marine / forest / freshwater / terrestrial ecology). Additional academic training or a degree in a management field would be a strong asset;
  • Proven track record in successfully developing, leading, and managing projects in the field of conservation, natural resource management, international development, and/or other related fields;
  • 5-7 years professional experience in a project management role, 3 years of which should be in Africa with demonstrated success in managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Required skills and competencies
  • Proven leadership and team management skills;
  • Skilled in negotiation, liaison, and in relationship and conflict management;
  • Strong skills in project planning, proposal writing, financing, management, implementation, and evaluation, and experience working with donors;
  • A working knowledge of financial management, especially of projects;
  • Adaptable, flexible, able to take initiative and prioritize among competing demands
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English and French
