Appointment of Board Members for the South African Institute for Drug-free Sport (SAIDS)

The Minister of Sport and Recreation SA calls for nominations for 10 independent, suitably qualified persons with knowledge of anti-doping in sport to serve on the Board of the South African Institute for Drug-free Sport (SAIDS).

Terms of office and remuneration: The term of office for the Board is five years. Remuneration will be made in accordance with National Treasury guidelines for public entities.

Requirements: Nominees should be in possession of relevant degrees or equivalent qualifications and more than 15 years’ professional experience in any of the following fields: Law; Sports Medicine; or Sports Management.
Competencies: The Anti-doping Appeal Board should demonstrate the following competencies:
• Working knowledge of the World Anti-Doping Code and the South African Anti-doping Rules • Unequivocal commitment to fair play and ethics in sport • Professional respect and recognition by peers in their occupational field.
