BBC Learning, established in 1924, is at the heart of the BBC’s overall aim to inform, educate and entertain. It’s our mission to inspire a life full of learning for all our audiences. As a department we play a central part in meeting the BBC's purpose of promoting education and learning. We co-commission a substantial portfolio of programmes and produce a range of learning resources delivered online, on-air and through face-to-face activities that connect, create and magnify powerful opportunities across the entire BBC to inspire all audiences. The department is also home to a comprehensive specialist learning offering that includes key brands such as Bitesize, Skillswise, and Class Clips.
Launching in late 2012, the Knowledge & Learning product will be a unified place for the BBC’s factual and learning content, as well as being ubiquitous across BBC Online, creating journeys of learning across bbc.co.uk.
Online content created at the London base is aligned primarily to the Science & History genres.

Role

 
You will produce and publish compelling Science, History and Health online content. You will also work on the editorial development of the site, using existing tools and resources.

You will take the lead in finding opportunities to promote and integrate content with other BBC services, including News Online and broadcast television and radio.

Requirements

 
To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience of content production, ideally including the day to day running of websites/online communities.
You will have the ability to work with limited resources to achieve an editorially strong outcome. An excellent communicator with diplomacy and discretion, you will have strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work within a team as well as on your own initiative.
