Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to direct and manage teams ensuring that outcomes are achieved within set time-frames and on budget to client satisfaction. The position is also responsible for driving the strategic direction and profitable marketing of the Company’s services in a specific practice within the international development service line. This may involve undertaking strategic short-term consultancies as may be relevant, including the role of Project Director. As part of the local leadership team, the role also contributes to the development and implementation of the Coffey strategic plan.
Key Areas of Accountability
Role specific (Service Line or Functional)
  • Oversight of contract compliance, including financial performance, quality assurance and M&E.
  • Oversight of project management, including finance and contract management, document control and quality assurance.
  • Undertake strategic short-term consultancies as may be relevant.
  • Contribute to and advise on the development of company policy, systems and procedures.
  • Undertake strategic short-term consultancies as may be relevant, including corporate roles of Project Director and Contractor Representative.
  • Monitor contract compliance, including financial performance, quality assurance and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Undertake management reporting and contribute to broader global Coffey International Development and Coffey Group initiatives
  • Monthly reporting to the LSLM, International Development – Europe
Operational Leadership
  • Provide high level leadership to teams and drive the strategic direction of a practice
  • Lead client service delivery and ensure quality and timeliness

Business Development
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers and vendors to enhance engagement and service levels and support market and knowledge sharing
  • Strategic market planning and business development

  • Develop business development plans addressing customer, capability, pricing and communication strategies
  • Develop a marketing intelligence process to understand and disseminate information regarding sources of potential work and competitor activity

  • Comply all statutory and company HSSE policies, standards and procedures
  • Lead by example to instigate and follow safe work practices; promote the physical security of our people and assets
Financial Management
  • Lead the technical specialisation in operating efficiently and profitably
  • Monitor financial controls to ensure that the Key Performance Indicators are on track and intervene to ensure that they remain on track

Personal Specifications
Education
Essential:
  • Undergraduate qualification in business, management, social sciences or in a technical/ professional field of relevance.
Advantage:
  • Postgraduate qualification an advantage
Experience
Essential:
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects and people, ideally in an international development context
  • Demonstrated experience in consulting and negotiating with key clients and team members
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining effective strategic work relationships
  • Proven experience in leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams in a competitive, time-bound environment
  • Leadership, management and supervision of professional staff.
  • Experience with time and cost management techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic marketing and business development, including tendering and bid development.
  • Proven success in successfully coordinating and coaching multiple proposal-preparation teams
Knowledge:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contracting and procurement principles for international consulting work and their application
  • Demonstrated understanding of the international development assistance sector
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social, political and economic environment internationally
  • Proven knowledge of project management principles, including quality assurance, and their application internationally
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial and contract management, including cost management and control
  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing principles and their application, ideally in an international environment
