With this newly established role, AECOM seeks to build a platform where we advise international agencies (e.g. World Bank, European Investment Bank, African and Asian Development Bank) and other major funding bodies.  Using the depth and breadth of our global project experience we can assist our clients through the interpretation of quality data combined with relevant, economic and technical tools required to enable them to make better, more informed decisions.
As the Head of Economics and Policy, you will lead the development of both the service offering and the team to deliver it.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Identify, establish and develop relationships with key agencies and funding bodies to address and influence policy issues and reforms necessary to improve quality of life and enable economic development particularly in the infrastructure sector. 
  • Design and develop programme solutions for major international development agencies and global private clients.
  • Review funding requests, to ensure the desired return on investment has been recognised between desired outcomes, funding award and project delivery
  • Develop and establish public profile through thought leadership.
  • Create and implement an effective sales/BD plan that identifies key clients, stakeholders, markets, risks, opportunities and targets.
  • Ensure ongoing programme of client facing and stakeholder activities to enhance our internal/external profile.
  • Develop and drive behaviours that motivate and inspire our people.
To be successful in this role we require a combination of the following skills and experience:
  • Degree qualified in an engineering/economics discipline. Higher degree in Finance and/or economics would be advantageous. Membership of a relevant, recognised professional body is preferred.
  • Demonstrable teambuilding and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address major client needs and challenges. 
  • Demonstrable track record in policy assessment and development, including regional and trans-boundary implications.
  • Previous experience with establishing a new service and developing a new team to support it.
  • Extensive experience working with project finance preferably within infrastructure.
  • Established long term relationships with international development agencies and major governments.
  • Exposure to Global markets including CIS, Africa & Middle East.
