Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Fitter)

Located in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia's Sunrise Dam is one of Western Australia's premier gold mines. Transitioning to solely underground mining in 2014, this operation employs more than 500 people and produces approximately 300,000 oz of gold per annum. Operating on an attractive 8/6 fly-in fly-out roster, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities.

We are now seeking Mechanical Fitters to join our Maintenance team at Sunrise Dam.

Accountable to the Maintenance Superintendent these roles are responsible for maintaining assets to ensure maximum efficiency of equipment and high plant utilisation. This role is site based, FIFO 8/6 from Perth.

The main tasks of the role include:        

• Carrying out Maintenance Tasks in the Mill Area as directed by Maintenance Co-ordinators
• Maintaining Crushers, Conveyor Systems, Pumps, Pipe Work, Ball Mill, Concentrators, Vibrating Screens & Feeders, Cranes & Hoists, Cyclones and all associated Tanks, Launders and Steelworks.  The tasks involved in maintaining this equipment will include, but not necessarily be limited to, Welding, Painting, Grinding and Fitting
• Carry out Mechanical Maintenance Tasks on other areas including the Accommodation Village, Mine, Bore Fields or on the Light Vehicle Fleet
• Availability after hours on a “Call Out” roster basis to respond to any equipment breakdown
• Assist with shutdown co-ordination and execution

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A current trade qualification as either a Fitter and Machinist
• Experience in the maintenance of mineral processing or heavy industrial plants
• The ability to work with noise, dust, elevated work areas, confined work areas, extremes of temperature, water, slurry
• The ability to work as part of a Multi-skilled Workforce
• Computer literacy
• The ability to work permanently in Australia
• Current WA Drivers Licence
• Able to work FIFO, 8/6 roster
