Mine Services Technician


Tropicana represents the most significant Australian gold discovery of the last decade. The new, large scale open pit gold mining operation will produce 3.6 million ounces over a 10 year mine life (approved project). Construction began in 2011 and first gold production was achieved in September 2013 ahead of schedule.
We are now seeking an experienced Mine Services Technician to join our Mining Team at the Tropicana Gold Mine.
Accountable to the Mine Superintendent, this role provides support with all aspects of open pit operations. The role includes working with diesel pump operations, dewatering, maintenance of plant within the active mining area and operating light mobile equipment. The roles are an 8/6 day shift FIFO roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie.
The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:
  • To assist Mine Superintendent with all aspects of open pit operations including inspections, records and maintenance
  • Organisation of consumables
  • Monitor and maintain the dewatering systems
  • Inspection, escort and monitoring of mining operations contractors
  • Liaise with peers and customers to optimise water flows
  • Operation or supervision of ancillary equipment within the Mining Area
  • MMRS data entry
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Previous mining experience
  • Previous dewatering or pumping experience
  • Experience operating heavy equipment
  • Experience in managing contractors on $20k+ projects
  • Trade qualified in a construction or maintenance related field
  • Proficient level of computer skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • C Class Driver’s Licence (HR preferred)
  • Permanent work rights in Australia
