Norlha, an apolitical, non-religious NGO based in Lausanne, Switzerland, aims to spur sustainable development and reduce poverty in the Himalayas through carefully crafted and locally run projects in the sectors of Agriculture, Environment and Income generation & Employment. The organization actively supports impoverished communities with the long-term goal of achieving economic self-sufficiency and the preservation of their dignity.
In order to strengthen the collaboration with partners in its operations Norlha is looking for a: Partnership Officer. Internship or Volunteer position, (80% to 100%)
Scope of work: Partnership and fundraising opportunity exploration
Main tasks:
  • Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate foundations, private sectors (corporate social responsibility funds, credit card companies, airlines and Indian companies active in Nepal, travel agents) and individual grant making philanthropists (esp. from India);
  • Conduct internet research to identify interest and possibilities of prospective funders to make a grant to Norlha and provide senior partnership advisor (SPA) with these information;
  • Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed, continually update and correct database records;
  • Prepare media kits (brochures, project proposals) to sale Norlha’s interest in getting support for Program implementation in Nepal and provide assistance to dispatch send these materials to donors.
  • Help SPA in preparing standard proposals incorporating the three current projects in Nepal
Candidate Profile:
  • Experience in marketing research, fundraising and customer identification;
  • Capacity to undertake internet research and manage costumer information in databases
  • Good analytical and writing skills (for media kits and project proposals); good communication skills;
  • High degree of autonomy and capacity to work under guidance and advise at distance provided by the SPA;
  • Good command of English, knowledge of French an asset, computer and multimedia presentation skills;
  • Knowledge of and experience in international relations and development cooperation.

Details of internship:
  • Full-time (or min 80%) position from January to April 2014 with possible extension
  • Work at Norlha HQ in Lausanne (some work may be done at home)
  • Reporting to and supervision at distance by Senior Partnership Expert and Fund Raising expert
  • Starting date: ASAP
