Project leader for the Oxfam Novib NOW project
A project to improve our information systems
24 - 32 hours a week,
Based in The Hague, The Netherlands
1 year contract (with the possibility for extension till the end of the project)
Starting date as soon as possible
Objective of the position
Oxfam Novib is looking for a Project leader who, together with us and many others, wants to work towards creating a just world without poverty.
We have a conviction that people are well capable of building a livelihood without poverty on their own, once given the chance to do so. Which is why we support local projects in developing countries, and why we lobby governments and companies to take into account the interests of the poorest people. We work together with other Oxfam affiliates to increase our impact on development issues.
The project Oxfam Novib NOW that was initiated in 2012 has the objective to improve (open) access to organisational information; programme and project data, monitoring information, documents, pictures, stories. The project and the desired products have a variety of target groups, both within and outside of the organisation, that each has their own business logic and requirements. The first phase of the project, being the development of a project browser, called Atlas, is currently in its final stages.
Oxfam Novib is looking for a project leader to close the first phase of the project and manage the second phase during which Atlas has to become more interactive for the Oxfam Novib staff and become the gateway to information that is not directly related to projects, e.g. Country Information.
Key tasks
  • Day to Day management of the Oxfam Novib NOW project; Plan, delegate, control and manage the project.
  • Develop a detailed action plan for phase two of the project based on existing project documentation, technical opportunities and diverse user-requirements
  • Ensure a solid anchoring in the organisation and a constructive team spirit in the project team
  • Provide advice and regular updates to the Steering Committee to ensure the desired products are with acceptable quality, within agreed time and cost tolerances.
You
  • Have at least 5 years experience in leading, managing and coaching interdisciplinary teams including all round IT-staff; experience with Agile/SCRUM is a plus;
  • Demonstrate experience in setting up digital work environments and ICT infrastructures, including socio-technical processes;
  • Have experience with the IATI standard for sharing open data in the development sector is an asset;
  • Have experience in the sector of international development is an asset.
  • Have a university degree with 5 to 10 years relevant experience and/or training in information and knowledge management with ICT component;
  • Are a natural connector;
  • Have leadership, facilitation and coaching skills;
  • Have excellent planning and organisational project management skills;
  • Are up to speed with current and future developments, opportunities and applications in the field of ICT, information management, open data in the development sector, social media and user experience/usability in an international setting;
  • Have proven ability to work efficiently to troubleshoot and follow projects through to completion, consistently on schedule, without loss of attention to detail and budget;
  • Have flexibility and willingness to work simultaneously on a wide range of tasks and projects and ability to prioritize tasks;
  • Are able to think and work on a strategic level while being pragmatic, hands-on and paying attention to detail;
  • Have excellent communication skills with sensitivity to cultural communication differences.
  • Applicants must be Nationals of a European Union member State or have a valid work permit for the European Union.

Oxfam Novib is committed to providing you with a competitive, fair and comprehensive pay and benefits package that is justifiable to our donors. This position is classified in scale 10. The gross salary range is between € 2906,- to € 4472,- on the basis of 36 hours per week. The position will be based in The Hague, The Netherlands.
