Mining Manager Operational Support South Africa-Gauteng Province

Reporting to the Corporate Manager Mining, the Mining Manager Operational Support will supply Project and Feasibility support to the operations, support the operations in performance and cost improvements on sites, assist with the introduction of appropriate new technologies to improve safety and operational performance, ensuring mining standards are maintained and are appropriate and assist sites to make best use of installed fleet management tools. The incumbent will be available to act in key operational positions at any of the sites, should one of them become vacant.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Identify performance and cost improvements on sites and advise the Operational teams accordingly.
• Reviews and ensures mining standards are maintained and appropriate on all the sites.
• To support the operations with Project and Feasibility study requirements.
• Assist with the introduction of appropriate new technologies to improve safety and operational performance.
• To act, as and when required, in key positions at the operations should any of these positions become vacant.
• Assist with the identification of potential improvements in the mining.
• Assist sites to make best use of installed fleet management tools.

PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DETAILS

Education

• Tertiary Qualification in Mining.
• Mine Managers Certificate of Competency.

Experience

• Ten (10) years experience minimum related to underground and open pit mining in a management level.
• Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures for surface and underground mining.
• Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.

Special attributes

• Strong Leadership and management ability.
• Willingness to travel to the operations in Tanzania (10 to 15 days per month).
• Excellent organization skills, written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a multinational / multicultural environment.

Must be able to legally work and live in South Africa.
