Basic purpose	The successful candidate will design and conduct laboratory, greenhouse, and field research on soil chemistry, including coordination and data management for multi-location trials throughout the Philippines and in Bangladesh and Indonesia.
Roles and responsibilities	• Coordinate with NARES partners in Bangladesh to gather and statistically analyze data on the use of zinc fertilizers in rice, with grain yield response and environmental characteristics • Design experiments and conduct research in collaboration with NARES partners in the Philippines, Bangladesh, and Indonesia to determine how Zn fertilization affects grain Zn concentration • Design and conduct field and greenhouse experiments to determine the best technical method for identifying Zn deficiency • Develop and test a farmer-friendly method for identifying a field at risk of Zn deficiency • Work with the Nutrient Management team to include Zn recommendations within Nutrient Manager decision tools • Provide leadership in laboratory management and training activities Qualification requirements: • BS Chemistry, Agricultural Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry • 5 years relevant work experience • Strong data management skills, expertise in use of statistical tools such as R, understanding of soil chemistry concepts and experimental design • Organized, takes initiative to work independently, team-player, strong analytical and mathematical reasoning skills
