ERWAT, a visionary leader in the wastewater industry since 1992, provides bulk wastewater conveyance and highly technical and proficient wastewater treatment to a host of industries. The company is rich in expertise and has been instrumental in developing methods to reduce costs, whilst at the same time rendering excellent quality of effluent and being environmentally sound. The company is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated individual for the following position:

DISTRICT MANAGER
The organisation is looking for a dynamic engineer to head up one of its three districts, while supporting the responsible Executive to achieve the overall operational objectives.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for organisational design/people management, customer care, performance management (systems/processes), compliance and corporate governance as well as relations with external stakeholders. Management of the District’s operations (business), including strategy formulation, maintenance requirements, future capacity determination, contract and project management as well as policy/procedure development will also form part of his/her duties. Financial management, including the provision of comprehensive business plans with financial analyses in accordance with functional plans and future strategies, as well as comprehensive budgets for capital and operational purposes, identification and prioritising of budgetary requirements, budget programming and expenditure control and administration, is also important.

Besides a 4-year BSc Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree in an applicable field, the successful candidate must qualify to register at least as a Class VI Operator and have a minimum of 7 years’ appropriate experience. At least 8-10 years (inclusive of the operational experience) in management and water purification processes and specialised knowledge of water treatment and purification processes are essential, along with demonstrated expert knowledge of project management principles and a good track record of working on complex projects. Further requirements include an understanding of contracts relevant to the water treatment industry, the ability to create and work within a team based network and to work collaboratively with all stakeholders. The ability to always place time, quality, cost and safety foremost and apply scientific solutions under operational conditions completes the profile sought.
